When you plan a holiday break for a crowd, that usually includes the dog (or dogs). And when you want to feel that your four-legged friends are welcome while also ensuring that you don’t compromise on luxury, that can be a difficult balancing act. That’s why we’ve pulled together a list of our top nine dog-friendly properties with a hot tub. We know that those all-important luxuries are not up for negotiation.

The wood-fired hot tub at Merbach Hill House offers you a chance to escape for a while and reflect on how good life is, as you soak up picture-perfect views across the Wye Valley. This delightful dog-friendly property, sleeping up to 18 guests is close to the famous book town of Hay on Wye as well as some good dog walking territory in the Black Mountains, Offa’s Dyke and Wye Valley itself.

The House on the Moat is a cosy, Tudor, dog-friendly cottage for up to 12 guests, close to the coast in Suffolk. Here, you can take to the water on a little rowing boat or spend some peaceful hours fishing for roach, rudd or carp. The Wholehouse has been described by guests as ‘idyllic’ and it’s easy to see why. With a games barn, cinema room and a shepherd’s hut playhouse for the children, it’s perfect for a family get together. And with spectacular views in the daytime, and dark, starlit skies at night, its position in the Brecon Beacons is unrivalled. It’s dog-friendly too and there’s also a wood-fired hot tub. A former pub, Horseshoe House has been renovated with style and a touch of quirkiness. There’s a games room with pool table, ice hockey, table football, table tennis and darts, and there’s a grand piano, a bar (of course), and the all-important outdoor hot tub. With the gently rolling Cotswold Hills on your doorstep, it’s also a great place to bring the dog.

A gorgeous country manor with a swimming pool and hot tub, Rippon Hall is hard to beat as a luxury property for a family get-together or friends reunion. A classic country manor house, there’s a billiard room, an elegant dining room and formal gardens. Beyond the gardens, the dog will love the sights, sounds, and scents of the wild flower woodlands.

Here’s another sensitively converted pub, this one a thatched, riverside hostelry in Devon. Riverbank Inn is a now dog-friendly Devon cottage for up to 29 guests. There’s a proper bar area where you can recreate your best pub nights, two acres of gardens along the riverbank which the dog will love, and an outdoor hot tub sunk into the decking, from which you can stargaze.
