If your idea of the perfect Welsh cottage is old oak beams, solid stone walls and home-from-home comforts, you’ll love The Wholehouse. Especially as it has a host of additional delights, including its setting in the Dark Sky Reserve of the Brecon Beacons.

Eat together around the magnificent 22-foot dining table, lined with coloured chairs. Drag yourself from the embrace of a velvety sofa in front of the wood burner to discover special details - a snug beneath the stairs, a lilac piano, the fabulous games barn.

Outside, in 4 acres of secluded gardens, follow fairy trails and let the children play house in the shepherd’s hut. Slow things down in the wood-fired hot tub, and watch the sun dip as you fire up the pizza oven. After some stargazing, head inside for a movie in the cosy cinema room.

The Wholehouse is designed for a crowd, from the four ovens and two dishwashers in the main kitchen to the versatile zip-and-link beds. With eight bedrooms in the main house and two in the self-contained Granary, and with cosy comforts and stunning views, it’s a wonderful retreat for family and friends.

The accommodation was perfect for the 17 of us with age ranges from 4 to 78. Very well equipped kitchen and big blanket box of games for all ages. Super big lounge with lots of seating. The views were stunning enjoyed from windows and from BBQ area outside. Kayleigh was a very attentive hostess, nothing was too much trouble.

What an amazing place to stay! The Wholehouse is absolutely idyllic. The entire family experienced the stay and the age range is from 10 months to age 70! Every single age group is catered for. There are so many activities to enjoy and the 'Wholehouse' offers a serene and peaceful environment allowing everyone to relax - in the hot tub, the cinema, the barn or the adventure playground! We have tried to think about everything to make your stay at The Wholehouse just perfect. In all of our big houses to rent, we provide all the essential features to cater for a large group. Here’s a list of all the practical provisions we have at the house. If there’s anything you can’t see here but need, just ask as we’ll see what we can do.

House FAQs

Are pets allowed?

Yes, up to 2 dogs are welcome, subject to a fee of £50 per dog. Dogs are not allowed upstairs, in bedrooms or on soft furnishings. The owners supply dog beds. We ask that dogs are kept on a lead in the gardens due to livestock in the fields surrounding the property.
What are the check in and check out times?

Check in is at 4pm on the day of your arrival at The Wholehouse and check out is at 10am (or 4pm on a Sunday).
Will you hold a damage deposit during our stay?

Yes, we ask to hold a cautionary deposit of £1,000 during your stay at The Wholehouse. This is requested just two weeks prior to your stay, and is returned shortly after, assuming no damage to the property or its contents (see our Booking T&Cs for more information).
Can I arrange a supermarket delivery to the house?

Yes. We usually suggest booking a delivery for after 4.30pm on the day of arrival.
How many guests can sit at the dining table?

Up to 24 guests can be seated around the main table in the Farmhouse.
Are hen and stag parties allowed at The Wholehouse?

Yes, well-behaved hen and stag parties are welcome.
What is the nearest train station to The Wholehouse?

The nearest train station is Abergavenny (31 minute drive) or Hereford (50 minute drive).
What is the nearest airport to The Wholehouse?

The nearest airport is Cardiff (1 hour 26 minute drive) or Bristol (1 hour 33 minute drive).
Is the house suitable for children?

Yes, children are very welcome at The Wholehouse. Cots (x2) and highchairs (x2) are available (please bring your own bed linen).
How many cars can be parked at the property?

There is plenty of parking available for 10 cars.
