Large private beach house rentals in the UK
It’s the dream, isn’t it? A luxury house with direct access to a beach. You can wake in the morning and wander down to the sea with your coffee. The children can build sandcastles and go rock-pooling without the need to pile everyone into the car and fight for a parking space somewhere. And in the evening, you can feel the sand between your toes as you watch the sun set over the sea.
Stay at Bay View House in Wales where the beach path at the end of the garden leads to a quiet little beach, protected by a forested, rocky shoreline. Or Barford Beach House in Cornwall, which looks out onto a pretty beach, privately owned by the residents of the hamlet and accessible through a gate off the lawn. The Beach House, not far from Padstow in Cornwall, has access to a remote and beautiful beach and every bedroom has a balcony with uninterrupted sea views.
Many more of our large houses are very close to the beach. In Scotland, Carron Castle is on a 1,500-acre estate which meets the Tay Estuary and has its own private beach where you can sit round the fire pit on a summer evening. At the other end of the UK, Solent House in Southsea is just a 30 second walk from the seafront, and Pentire Penthouse in Cornwall affords panoramic views of surfing paradise, Fistral Bay.

Large Houses and Cottages with Direct Access to a Beach FAQ:
-
Do you have houses with private beaches?
We do have some houses with a private beach, or a beach that is jointly owned with neighbours. Most of the beaches that our houses have direct access to are open to the public but many are quiet beaches so they will feel very much like being on a private beach. We’ll happily answer your questions about beach access for any particular property before you book.
-
Can I have a BBQ/firepit on the beach?
Many of the beaches our houses have access to are not private, so you will need to check the local rules for the beach. However, we do have some houses where you can have a barbecue. Stay at Carron Castle, on the Tay Estuary in Scotland, for example and a firepit is provided for you.
-
What should we bring for a holiday with direct access to the beach?
Pack everything you would pack for a day at the seaside, including beach towels, sunscreen, swimming gear and sandals or flip flops. If you’re staying at Pentire Penthouse, you might pack your surf boards for Fistral Beach, and at many of our cottages makes sure you bring nets and buckets for rock pooling and sandcastles. Some of our houses do have beach equipment, and we’ll let you know exactly what’s provided when you book.
-
Where in the UK are your cottages with direct access to a beach?
We have beach cottages in many of the coastal regions of the UK, including in Scotland, Wales and England. As you might expect, we have a good choice of houses with access to the beach in the West Country, particularly in Devon and Cornwall.
-
Do you have any dog-friendly cottages with access to a beach?
Lots of our cottages with direct access to the beach are dog friendly. A beach cottage is the perfect place to stay when you are bringing the dog with you. You can go for beach walks every day and your dog will love the freedom and exercise. You can see if the house you are interested in is dog-friendly at a glance. Look for the dog symbol in the booking box just below the main picture. Two of our favourite dog-friendly cottages with direct access to a beach are Barford Beach House and Bay View House.
