Carron Castle Hero

Carron Castle Scotland

A fairy-tale castle with coast and country views

Carron Castle in the Kingdom of Fife is everything you imagine a Scottish castle to be - and more. It’s a magnificent, Scottish Baronial chateau, where full-length family portraits, crystal chandeliers and four-poster beds set the scene for a memorable country escape.

An ancestral home, Carron Castle is first and foremost a grand but comfortable family home. With an elegant drawing room, historic library and welcoming sitting room, there’s space to socialise, with quiet corners too. Challenge your fellow guests to a game in the billiards room or settle in to the cinema room with Netflix to catch a film. Two grand pianos and an organ will delight the musicians, original fireplaces make winter days cosy, and there’s a bar for your evening whisky. Meanwhile, a country kitchen, a separate chef’s kitchen and a formal dining room make mealtimes special.

Head outside for a swim in the pool, a game of tennis, or a wander in the walled garden. The 1,500-acre estate meets the Tay estuary, where there’s a fire pit for private beach barbecues.

Further afield, while the golfers head off to one of the many golf clubs nearby, including St Andrews Old Course, others can hit the shops and museums in Dundee, Edinburgh or Perth. Or they can explore the estate, where red squirrels scamper through ancient woodlands and otters, seals and even the occasional sea eagle can be spotted down at the estuary.

Later, a four-poster bed awaits, along with king and super-king beds, two single rooms and a nursery for the children. Egyptian cotton bed linen, luxury ensuite or family bathrooms with bathrobes, and views across the estate all add up to restful nights.
