RENT IN A BIG HOUSE IN SHROPSHIRE
Shropshire is a county of rolling hills, historic landmarks and foodie towns. Cushioning Wales along its English border, and with the River Severn meandering through, it’s a destination for exploring the great outdoors and finding peace in the embrace of nature. It’s easy to reach from most parts of the UK and our big houses in Shropshire are perfect for a gathering of friends or family for a special occasion or an annual get together.
With lakes, hills, rivers and woodlands, Shropshire is full of opportunities for an active holiday. Go splashing about at Alderford Lake, climbing in the Nescliffe Hills and cycling along the towpath of the Shropshire Union Canal. The kids will be delighted by Hoo Zoo and its animatronic dinosaurs, and by the bridges, towers and caves of Hawkstone Park Follies. When you want to slow things down a little, pack a picnic and sit on the banks of the River Severn or the 200-acre grounds of Attingham Park.

PLACES TO VISIT IN SHROPSHIRE
From the blue remembered hills of A E Housman’s nostalgic elegy, to the industrial heritage of Ironbridge, Shropshire is a county of contrasts. Visit Ironbridge, the birthplace of the industrial revolution, See the Severn Valley from a steam train on the Severn Valley Railway, and trek across the Shropshire Hills, tackling Long Mynd, The Wrekin and Wenlock Edge, for spectacular views.
Save lunch for Ludlow, one of Shropshire’s famous foodie towns and the UK’s slow food capital. Go in September for the Food Festival if you can and visit the castle while you are there. Try Whitchurch for more award-winning restaurants and spend a day in Shrewsbury (ask the locals how to pronounce it!) for another castle, along with 1500 years of history and a plethora of impressive medieval buildings.
