Whittington Manor Hero

Whittington Manor Heart of England

A stunning house with a surprising history

When Dick Whittington set off for London, this gorgeous country house in Gloucestershire was reputedly the childhood home he was leaving. Now available for exclusive use for up to 24 guests, contemporary comforts bring the story right up to date. This includes Miele appliances in the Aga-warmed kitchen, a gas barbecue for outdoor entertaining and an optional hot tub. Elegant furnishings and period details combine to create warm and welcoming interiors with loads of character and quirkiness. And the gardens! Like outdoor rooms, each with their own personality, they include the sunken garden, the ruin garden, the cloister garden and the herb garden. Views across the peaceful Gloucestershire countryside add to the dreamlike quality of the outdoor aspect. Spend your days playing tennis, petanque and croquet, enjoying lovely walks straight from the door, or indulging in spa treatments, a yoga class or a private chef for a special dinner in the ballroom, all of which we can arrange for you. Nearby, visit the spa town of Cheltenham, Gloucester with its Cathedral and Quays, and the pretty market town of Ledbury, explore the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley. Being on the edge of the Cotswolds, it is also within easy reach of beautiful Cotswold villages including Painswick, Bourton-on-the-Water and Broadway.

Guest Review

Whittington Manor was an absolutely magical place to stay! I was there with some friends for the weekend and every room was exquisite - and the amazing bathtubs (and fluffy bathrobes) are an added beautiful bonus! There are lovely walks in the area, but you barely need to leave the grounds for the beautiful views, and endless walled gardens and courtyards that pop up without you even knowing they were there! It's perfect for a family reunion or a number of families.
