This Big House in the Yorkshire Wolds is actually two big houses that were once a farmhouse and associated buildings around a fold yard - an enclosed space where the farm animals were sheltered. It now provides shelter of a more luxurious nature for a family gathering across the generations, a celebration with friends, or for two families to get together. There’s room for up to 28 guests, split between the two houses.

Gather in the huge, open-plan living space in the converted barn, which has a wall of windows, a modern feel and room for everyone at the dining table. Or relax in the grade ll listed farmhouse, where original features celebrate the building’s heritage while contemporary comforts abound. Here, dine at one end, play pool at the other, and in the middle, sink into soft leather sofas and chat around the log burner.

If you wonder where everyone has disappeared to, they’re probably in the two indoor swim-spas, relaxing in the bubbles. Or perhaps they’re raiding the games cupboard or playing darts or table tennis. Leave them to it and step into the walled garden, where the children will love the Swingball and there’s a barbecue and plenty of sociable seating.

When sleep beckons, the bedrooms are luxurious too, with a mix of king-size and single beds and several ground floor rooms. Sink into slumber in this idyllic Yorkshire Wolds setting.

We’ve tried to think about everything to make your stay at Whin Bush Farm just perfect. In all of our big houses to rent, we provide all the essential features to cater for a large group. Here’s a list of all the practical provisions we have at the houses. If there’s anything you can’t see here but need, just ask as we’ll see what we can do.

Location

Situated in a charming village surrounded by the picturesque scenery of the North Yorkshire countryside, and close to both the market town of Malton in one direction and the popular seaside resort of Scarborough in the other.

What are the check in and check out times?

Check in is at 4pm on the day of your arrival and check out is at 10am (or 5pm if checking out on a Sunday).
How many cars can park at the property?

There is parking for 16 cars at Whin Bush Farm.
Are children welcome?

Children are very welcome at Whin Bush Farm. Four travel cots and four highchairs are available on request (please bring your own cot linen). Please note, parents should supervise children at all times around the swim spa pools, hot tub and play areas.
Are pets allowed?

Up to four well-behaved dogs are allowed at each property (eight in total), subject to a fee of £25 per dog. Dogs are not allowed upstairs or on soft furnishings.
Are stag and hen parties allowed?

Respectful hen and stag parties are permitted at Whin Bush Farm.
Can I arrange a supermarket delivery to the house?

Yes, you can order online with Asda, Sainsbury's or Tesco for a delivery direct to the property. We usually suggest booking a delivery for after 4pm on the day of arrival.
How many guests can sit at the dining table?

The dining table in Eastwold Barn can seat up to 28 guests. There is a separate dining table in Woldfoot Farm that can seat up to 16 guests.
Can you recommend any local places to eat out?

Are additional day guests allowed at the property?

Additional day guests may be permitted by prior agreement only, for an additional charge of £10 per person. Please contact us to discuss on 01242 352747. Please note, the maximum occupancy for overnight guests is 28.
Are the two houses joined together?

The two houses that make up Whin Bush Farm are not joined; both are accessed through external doors. There is a small garden gate separating the two houses (Eastwold Barn and Woldfoot Farm).
Are any of the rooms accessible for those with limited mobility?

There is step free access into Eastwold Barn and a ramp is available for steps on the ground floor. There is step free access into Woldfoot Farm and the ground floor is accessible for wheelchairs. Bedroom 3 on the ground floor of Eastwold Barn and Bedroom 1 on the ground floor of Woldfoot Farm have doors wide enough for a wheelchair. The shower rooms have space for a wheelchair to pull in and there are grab rails and a shower chair, but please note there are shower cubicles to negotiate. Please see the list of bedrooms PDF above.
Are there any other residents who live on site?

Please note, there is additional accommodation on the estate which may be occupied during your stay. This has private access and grounds and does not share any facilities with Whin Bush Farm (except the access from the road).
What is the nearest train station?

The nearest train stations are Seamer (9 miles) or Malton (12.5 miles).
What is the nearest airport?

The nearest airport is Leeds Bradford (60 miles).
Will you hold a damage deposit during our stay?

Yes, we ask to hold a cautionary deposit of £500 during your stay at Whin Bush Farm. This is requested just two weeks prior to your stay, and is returned shortly after, assuming no damage to the property or its contents (see our Booking T&Cs for more information).
How do I book?

When booking, we ask for a deposit of 33% of the total price, with the balance due 12 weeks prior to your stay (or the full balance when booking within 12 weeks of your stay).
