With far reaching sea views and a beach just 500 yards away, it’s all about seaside vibes at Porthgan House in Cornwall. In this modern, light-filled home, which sits on a hill above the bay, you can spend hours simply soaking up those views. Perfect for smaller groups, Porthgan House accommodates up to 10 guests and the open-plan living areas give you plenty of space to spread yourselves out. Drop into vibrant blue velvet sofas in front of the super-modern, inset log burner. Gather round the kitchen island for cocktails and take your seat for meals around the rustic dining table, which is positioned for the best views through the picture windows.
Step onto the terrace and lounge in the hanging egg chairs, sink into the cedar hot tub or escape into the Scandinavian-style sauna. There’s a Weber barbecue and plenty of seating on the terrace, making it perfect for al fresco life. On the lower floor, there’s also a cinema room, with slouchy sofas and a large flat screen TV. This is where the majority of the bedrooms are too, all ensuite and all simple and serene, with natural fabrics and wood finishes offset by pure white walls for a calming night’s sleep. At Porthgan House, leave the world behind and immerse yourself in the beauty of coastal Cornwall. Walk down to the beach at Watergate Bay, grab your surf boards and hit nearby Newquay and, in the evenings, watch the sun set over the sea.

What to Expect
We’ve tried to think about everything to make your stay at Porthgan House just perfect. In all of our big houses to rent, we provide all the essential features to cater for a large group. Here’s a list of all the practical provisions we have at the house. If there’s anything you can’t see here but need, just ask as we’ll see what we can do.

What are the check in and check out times?
Check in is at 4pm on the day of your arrival and check out is at 10am.

How many cars can park at the property?
There is parking for 3 cars on the driveway. There's also a lay-by on the road outside the house for a further 2 cars.

Are children welcome?
Children are very welcome at Porthgan House. A travel cot and highchair are available on request (please bring your own cot linen). There's also a stair gate for the top of the main stairs. Buckets and spades for the beach are also provided. Please note, parents should supervise children at all times around the hot tub area.

Are pets allowed?
Well-behaved dogs are allowed at Porthgan House, for no additional charge. Dogs are not allowed upstairs, in the bedrooms or on soft furnishings.

Are stag and hen parties allowed?
Respectful hen and stag parties are permitted at Porthgan House. Please note a higher cautionary deposit amount of £500 is required (see damage deposit FAQ below).

Can I arrange a supermarket delivery to the house?
Yes, you can order online with Sainsbury's or Asda for a delivery direct to the house. We usually suggest booking a delivery for after 4pm on the day of arrival.

How many guests can sit at the dining table?
The dining table can seat up to 10 guests.

Does anyone live on-site?
The caretaker lives in a property beside Porthgan House. While they are on hand in case there is a problem, their intention is to be very discreet and only be present should you need them.

Will you hold a damage deposit during our stay?
Yes, we ask to hold a cautionary deposit of £300 during your stay at Porthgan House (£500 for hen and stag parties). This is requested just two weeks prior to your stay, and is returned shortly after, assuming no damage to the property or its contents (see our Booking T&Cs for more information).

How do I book?
You can check availability and pricing and place your booking request online, or by calling our team on 01242 352 747.
When booking, we ask for a deposit of 33% of the total price, with the balance due 12 weeks prior to your stay (or the full balance when booking within 12 weeks of your stay).
