Needlework Cottage Hero 1

Needlework Cottage North of England

A historic Yorkshire cottage for a cosy catchup

Set in a secluded spot at the edge of a pretty village deep in the rugged Yorkshire countryside, Needlework Cottage delivers a rich tapestry of surprises. Upon arrival, you are presented with a traditional Yorkshire weaver’s cottage, with tell-tale rows of windows high up, originally designed to let as much light in as possible for the weavers. Step inside the solid stone walls and prepare to be surprised with modern day luxury and designer flair.

At the heart of any family home is the kitchen, and Needlework Cottage doesn’t disappoint. A large sociable room for cooking, dining and chilling, this is a special place to gather and enjoy each other’s company. The kitchen shares the ground floor with a cool games room, where you can demonstrate your table tennis and pool prowess! Up a floor, the peaceful sitting room with comfortable sofas and stylish artworks feels altogether more grown up. The row of windows filters soft Yorkshire light into the room, and, because the cottage is built on a hill, you can step out onto the patio at the back of the cottage – where the next surprise is a hot tub, ready and waiting.

Three of the four double bedrooms enjoy valley views through the weavers’ windows, while the fourth has a Juliet balcony overlooking the sheltered patio at the back. The three luxury bath and shower rooms boast Porcelanosa tiles, rainfall showers and ample fluffy towels.

Needlework Cottage in just five minutes’ walk from Thurlstone village, where there’s an award-wining pub for Sunday lunch as well as a small shop for essentials and treats. The Trans Pennine Trail - a rewilded railway route - is on your doorstep, or you can pull on your hiking boots and make the rewarding climb to Royd Moor Viewing Point for panoramic views of the Peak District. Also nearby is the famous Yorkshire village of Holmfirth (of Last of the Summer Wine fame).

Needlework Cottage, a beautifully restored building with a fascinating history, is perfect for an intimate gathering of your family or friends in a truly wonderful location.

Guest Reviews

We stayed in Needlework Cottage and just wow! From the moment I was greeted by Sarah with a hugely warm welcome to the moment we begrudgingly shut the door behind us to leave, was just fabulous. Quality of the house was absolutely superior, great layout, tons of room to relax, fabulous kitchen with everything you’d need and more, cosy and comfy beds and an outside hot tub of dreams. We 100000% are coming back next year!
