Summerbourne House is a gorgeous, historic retreat situated on a private estate, surrounded by the meadows and woodlands of rural Wiltshire. Leave your cares at the end of the drive and step into a welcoming world of opulence and comfort. This is a house of big fireplaces and family portraits on the walls, a grandfather clock here and a carved four-poster bed there. It’s also a house with a hot tub and a huge entertainment room with a snooker table, cinema screen and bar.
Relax in the sitting room around the open fireplace, slip away to the drawing room, or take charge of the country kitchen, where the four-oven Aga, Le Creuset cookware and American-style fridge freezer make your holiday catering a pleasure. Throughout the house, it’s the quirky details that delight - a secret drinks cabinet behind the bookcase, a bedroom with gold-leaf wallpaper and a freestanding copper bath, and historic windows of all shapes, from quatrefoils to Gothic arches. Dine in the elegant dining room or spill outside where there’s a barbecue as well as a croquet lawn and the hot tub.
When you’re not visiting Westonbirt Arboretum, Cheltenham Races or the Badminton Horse Trials, stay close to base and explore the estate on electric scooters you can hire, or go shooting, which you can prebook. There are also two stables, so bring the horses (additional charges apply). At bedtime, sink into peaceful slumber in rooms as luxurious and comfortable as the living spaces, with antique furniture, swag curtains and - on the second floor - ancient beams sweeping into the roof space. Summerbourne House is somewhere you feel instantly relaxed; an escape from the world for up to 20 guests.

What to Expect
We’ve tried to think about everything to make your stay at Summerbourne House just perfect. In all of our big houses to rent, we provide all the essential features to cater for a large group. Here’s a list of all the practical provisions we have at the house. If there’s anything you can’t see here but need, just ask as we’ll see what we can do.

What are the check in and check out times?
Check in is at 4pm on the day of your arrival and check out is at 10am.

How many cars can park at the property?
There is parking for 12 cars at the property.

Are children welcome?
Children are very welcome at Summerbourne House. One travel cot and one highchair are available on request (please bring your own cot linen). Please note, parents should supervise children at all times around the open fires and the hot tub area.

Are pets allowed?
Up to two well-behaved dogs are allowed at Summerbourne House, subject to a fee of £25 per dog. Please note that dogs must stay in the kitchen or utility room only.

Are stag and hen parties allowed?
Sorry, Summerbourne House is not suitable for hen or stag parties. We politely ask that this is respected.

Can I arrange a supermarket delivery to the house?
Yes, you can order online with Tesco or Waitrose for a delivery direct to the house. We usually suggest booking a delivery for after 4pm on the day of arrival.

The dining table can seat up to 20 guests.

The nearest train station is Kemble (7 miles).

The nearest airport is Bristol (40 miles). For private planes, Cotswold airport is 10 miles from the property.

Will you hold a damage deposit during our stay?
Yes, we ask to hold a cautionary deposit of £1,000 during your stay at Summerbourne House. This is requested just two weeks prior to your stay, and is returned shortly after, assuming no damage to the property or its contents (see our Booking T&Cs for more information).

How do I book?

When booking, we ask for a deposit of 33% of the total price, with the balance due 12 weeks prior to your stay (or the full balance when booking within 12 weeks of your stay).
