Oldstone Hall Hero

Oldstone Hall North of England

A Lakeland haven surrounded by nature

After driving through a sublimely picturesque 5,000-acre Lakeland estate, the sweep up a private drive brings you to Oldstone Hall, standing in its own 4-acre beauty spot.

A handsome, 3-storey country house, Oldstone Hall wears its 500-year history well. Step inside and feel the embrace of period features at every turn, from oak panelled walls and exposed beams to cosy, low ceilinged bedrooms with casement windows. Get everyone together in the relaxed drawing room, where soft sofas and a huge inglenook fireplace with log fire create a cosy ambience. Watch movies and sports on the 65” TV in the separate TV room or gather in the country kitchen over a cuppa. The wood-panelled dining room with its welcoming open fire and stunning carved oak overmantel will inspire you to dress for dinner and make an occasion of it.

You come to the Lakes for panoramic landscapes and stepping onto the terrace at Oldstone Hall, that’s exactly what you get. Four acres of lawns and woodlands, with a tarn-fed pond, landscaped gardens and an abundance of wildlife are yours to explore, and beyond that, the estate is a Lakeland paradise, with trails along the shores of Lake Windermere, forest hikes and open parkland. Soak up the views from the wood-fired hot tub, or take a 10-minute stroll to the shared estate swimming pool, through the lush countryside.

The nine bedrooms each have their own charm, including quirky beds made from reclaimed beams and cosy window seats with garden views. Most of the rooms have ensuite bathrooms, where you might bag a power shower, luxurious corner bath or cosy underfloor heating.

Next to the main house, the old Dairy Cottage has been sensitively restored to create a self-contained 3-bedroom cottage, sleeping up to six people.

With room for 24 guests, Oldstone Hall makes a fabulous venue to get together for family celebrations. This peaceful retreat in the very heart of the Lakes, is as close as you’ll come to having the bustling Lake District all to yourselves.
