Tudor Grange Hero

Maybright House The South West

A country house by the seaside

This glorious Tudor-style mansion would probably have been called a gentleman’s residence when it was built in 1927. It’s a symphony of oak-panelled rooms, ornate ceilings, grand fireplaces and a breathtaking carved oak staircase. Now, it’s the perfect setting for a family holiday, a friends’ get-together or even a corporate pow-wow. And - the cherry on the cake - it’s within sea spray distance of the seven-mile, sandy seafront at Bournemouth, on England’s sunny south coast.

During the day, when you’re not down at the beach, take it easy in the gardens, where you can enjoy drinks on the terrace, dip in and out of the hot tub, and light up the charcoal barbecue for a lazy lunch. Meanwhile, the children can swing and slide and climb in their own little play park. Gather for pre-dinner drinks in the oak-panelled reception room, where there’s plenty of comfy seating. Serve up in the baronial dining room, where the arched, decorated ceiling adds to the sense of occasion, and two long tables make sure there’s room for everyone.

Later, head up that spectacular staircase to your ensuite bedroom, where you might even be lucky enough to have a four-poster. There are two further bedrooms on the ground floor for easier access.

Maybright House is on a quiet street, but it’s only a short walk to the beach and to the bustling heart of Bournemouth, where you can wander through the gardens, lose your pennies in the amusements, or go a bit more wild with a zip-wire ride from the pier!

Topleft Bottomright

What we think

A large house on a leafy street with refined, elegant interiors. And with the beaches and seaside charm of Bournemouth centre just a short stroll away, it’s ideal for families wanting to feel the sand between their toes or hen groups wanting to live it up on the south coast.
