Honeystone Manor Cotswolds

Honeystone Manor Heart of England

The best of the Cotswolds right outside your door

In an area in the Cotswolds that is steeped in English history, this is the perfect base from which to explore the area while experiencing the joys of living in a house that has been part of that history over the years and yet still gives you all the benefits of 21st century comforts and technology! This is a house to be thoroughly enjoyed. The property reflects its 17th century beginnings with tasteful decor bringing out the charm of the old exposed beams, the stone floors, the open stone fireplaces and the panelled walls. Set in enclosed private grounds, it exudes both elegance and class. As is invariably the way with older houses, it has been extended, developed and improved over the centuries, but it has always been sympathetic to the original architecture, making this a wonderfully characterful historic home. And a home it truly is, with interior decor created with a view to luxury, comfort and history. This home is a favourite of ours and it always makes us feel as though we are living a little bit of history. Oh, and you can bring the dog too!

Guest reviews

The gorgeous Honeystone Manor has so much character and charm - we loved it. The building has so many quirky original features yet there are also all the necessary mod cons too - it felt like a real privilege to stay here. We had 6 adults and two grandchildren with plenty of room for us all. The grounds and gardens had more room than I expected and we enjoyed the tennis court, games room and gym. We took some great day-trips out, such as Stratford-on-Avon and lovely typically Cotswoldy places like Bourton-on-the-Water too. All in all - we loved it.

We had a Big House Experience for New Year with friends and family at Honeystone Manor. We were delighted with the house and the service. I would say it surpassed expectations. Of particular note was everything that was provided, from a welcome pack of goodies, and dog treats, to high quality and plentiful products and all kitchen equipment, etc. Beds were comfortable, linen was good quality, plenty of firewood provided. Not one but two Christmas trees. Everything that you might need had been thought of. The housekeeper was welcoming and helpful on arrival. Altogether, a great experience and one we’d be keen to repeat.

Room to relax…

Downstairs, the drawing room is the perfect focal point for evening drinks, afternoon tea or a quiet snooze by the large open fire. Of course there is Wi-Fi throughout so you can keep on top of those emails if you really must, and Sky TV if you want to sit back and enjoy a movie. The adjacent library is a perfect spot for catching up on classic novels or putting the world to rights over a glass of single malt. The rugs on the floor, the subtle shades of the paintwork on the walls, the uplighters, scatter cushions and fireplaces, all serve to make these rooms elegant, comfortable, and charming, in turn making you feel very much at home.

…room to socialise

The dining room boasts a huge limestone fireplace, wonderful wood panelling, an inglenook and impressive drapes creating a magnificent rural style. And, of course, there are elegant glasses, dining sets and crockery to match, all creating a wonderful ambience for home dining. Next door, the kitchen is the perfect setting for creating wonderful dishes. With the Belfast sink, the range cooker and the SMEG fridge, the kitchen itself creates that perfect rural ambience. If cooking is your thing, you will have a whale of a time perfecting scrumptious meals, but if you’d rather not, we can provide somebody to cook for you.

Plenty to do whatever the weather!

One thing about this house, you need never be bored! Whether you are looking for a genteel walk around the elegant gardens, a strenuous game of tennis or a long walk in the countryside, there is no shortage of things to do both at the house itself and further afield. The house has Wi-Fi, TV and a library so if you just want to chill out reading, catching a movie or emailing your mates, you’re sorted! Next door to the house, the barn has a mini-billiards table and a TV with soft furnishings, making it a great place to relax on a rainy afternoon. Why not recapture your youth with some of the board games on offer? There is also a mini-gym with weights, a couple of exercise bikes and a shower to freshen up afterwards. There is also a tennis court so no shortage of activities without even leaving the property!

The nearest golf club is just a mile and a half away and there is a riding school just ten minutes away by car. Of course there are some absolutely delightful walks in the area with magnificent views of lots of beautiful cottages, churches and other buildings to enjoy. Why not stroll to Whichford Mill and explore the history of the two mills that have been there since 1086? Or visit the Cotswold Distillery or the Cotswold Decorative Ironworkers, all within easy walking distance. The nearest pub is less than ten minutes' walk away so it is ideal for a relaxing lunch or an early-evening pint. Of course, the Cotswolds has over 3,000 miles of footpaths and bridleways to explore, with beautiful ancient woodlands, wildflower meadows and stunning scenery. And with year round markets, fetes, festivals and sports gatherings, you’re bound to find something that tickles your fancy. And this is just the property to do it from!
