Pretty villages, ancient hedgerows and a neighbouring 12-acre wild orchard surround this serene, Queen Anne-style property in the Waveney Valley in Suffolk. Feel the busy world drop away as you pull up on the drive.
Light spills into the drawing room through tall windows, and the tasteful decor imbues a sense of calm. There’s room for everyone in here and there’s a homely feel that makes it just right for all sorts of gatherings. A smaller sitting room provides a place to escape for quiet conversations and afternoon snoozes. Throughout, contemporary styling complements period features that include exposed beams and huge fireplaces.
Meals are sociable affairs, cooked on the Aga or the gas oven and served in the breakfast area or the formal dining room. Al fresco eating is elevated to another level entirely, with the giant Argentine Asado barbecue and pizza oven.
Once outside, go wild and free. The neighbouring orchard is alive with muntjac deer, pheasants and songbirds, while the house's own three-acre gardens have room for a beautiful rewilded area, a natural pond, and big lawns for fun and games. Make a splash in the heated outdoor pool while the children shoot down the slide to join you, then sit peacefully in the shade of an old oak tree or gather for a sundowner on the terrace, sheltered by the wisteria-clad walls.
When sleep beckons, the bedrooms are laid out across the upper two floors, with a suite on the second floor for a family of four, including an open plan kitchen and sitting room. Now, put your feet up and send the children off in search of the Secret Room - hard to find but once discovered, a special bedroom for two little ones.

We’ve tried to think about everything to make your stay at Dovebridge House just perfect. In all of our big houses to rent, we provide all the essential features to cater for a large group. What are the check in and check out times?
Check in is at 4pm on the day of your arrival and check out is at 10am (or 4pm if checking out on a Sunday).

How many cars can park at the property?
There is parking for 10+ cars at the property.

Can I arrange a supermarket delivery to the house?
Yes, you can order online with Waitrose, Tesco or Sainsbury's for a delivery direct to the house. We usually suggest booking a delivery for after 4pm on the day of arrival.

Are children welcome?
Children are very welcome at Dovebridge House. One travel cot, two highchairs and two potties are available on request (cot linen provided). Children's toys, books and games are also available in the playroom and there is a small swing for toddlers outdoors. Please note, parents should supervise children at all times as there is a pond in the grounds which is not fenced and an outdoor swimming pool.

Are pets allowed?
Well-behaved dogs are allowed at Dovebridge House, for no additional charge. Dogs are not allowed upstairs, on soft furnishings or on the carpets.

Are stag and hen parties allowed?
Respectful hen and stag parties are sometimes permitted, subject to prior agreement with the property owner. The cautionary deposit for hen and stag parties is £2,500. Please contact us before booking to discuss.

How many guests can sit at the dining table?
The dining room table can seat up to 16 guests. The kitchen table seats up to 8 guests.

Will you hold a damage deposit during our stay?
Yes, we ask to hold a cautionary deposit of £1,500 during your stay at Dovebridge House (£2,500 for hen and stag parties). This is requested just two weeks prior to your stay, and is returned shortly after, assuming no damage to the property or its contents (see our Booking T&Cs for more information).

When booking, we ask for a deposit of 33% of the total price, with the balance due 12 weeks prior to your stay (or the full balance when booking within 12 weeks of your stay).
