Colnebrook Hall Hero

Colnebrook Hall East of England

Fall in love with Essex at this magical manor

Quite why Essex doesn’t get the praise it deserves is puzzling. If you have any doubts about this historic county, let Colnebrook Hall dispel them with charm, style and a spritz of magic.

This most gracious of Queen Anne properties has you relaxing in an instant as you wander through spacious, light-filled and colourful rooms. Start the day in the breakfast room, flop into the plush purple sofas in the drawing room or escape with a book to the snug. When everyone’s feeling peckish, you can depend on the four-oven Aga to bring your culinary creations to perfection. Then, polish the silver and pretend you’re in a period drama as you serve dinner in the opulent dining room.

Come to Colnebrook Hall for fun and family times, whether it’s flexing your fingers on the grand piano, settling in with Sky, Netflix, Amazon Prime or Now TV on the 50” screen, or hitting the indoor gym. Explore the grounds - all 200 acres - and enjoy tennis, croquet and splashing about in the outdoor heated pool. Step beyond the walled gardens, well-tended flower beds and plush lawns to discover the lake and woodlands and say hello to the rare Hebridean sheep.

Finish the day with a barbecue on the terrace and a spot of stargazing, then it’s off to bed, whether it’s the four-poster, a solid carved oak wonder, or a king size brass bedstead. With a chaise longue here and a Catchpole and Rye copper bath there, as well as firm mattresses, high thread count bed linen and restful views, a deep and refreshing sleep is assured.

Sleeping up to 20 guests, Colnebrook Hall is ideal for you to bring a large family group or come as two or three families. And it has rather a special surprise for the children. Colnebrook Hall is right next door to Wyvernwood, an adventure park for little ones aged two to 12, with a magical kingdom of princesses, wizards and dragons.
