Apple Cabin The South West

Family fun in a rustic retreat

Apple Cabin is a big, rustic barn of a holiday home surrounded by 1.5 acres of outdoor space and hidden between the Quantocks and the Blackdown Hills in Somerset and Exmoor in Devon. This is the setting for a family holiday that might have fallen from the pages of a children’s adventure book.

Throw open the doors, make a beeline for the heated indoor swimming pool and plunge straight into your holiday. Fill your days with fun and games, long lazy lunches on the terrace and lively dinners round the huge wooden table.

Can a cinema room be rustic? This one can. Sink into comfy sofas and watch the latest Netflix movie on the big screen, which is mounted on the timber barn wall. The wood cabin aesthetic extends throughout, but not at the expense of life’s little luxuries. The smart kitchen has everything you need to create show stopping meals and the bedrooms - all ensuite - mix shabby chic with pure indulgence, from repurposed packing case bedside tables to beds with crisp cotton linens. And outside, there’s a 10-seater hot tub!

Tip the children into the 1.5-acre gardens, where they can run free, tackle the climbing wall and bounce endlessly on the trampoline. With table football and table tennis in the games room, board games and a piano, and a playhouse for the little ones, Apple Cabin is a childhood paradise. Meanwhile, the grown-ups can pour a drink and enjoy the views.

This hidden corner of Somerset is perfect for an active holiday, with riding, hill walks and cycling all on your doorstep and the coast only 45 minutes’ drive away.

Larger group - need more space?

There is the option to book the separate, self-contained Barley Lodge for the duration of your stay for an additional charge, subject to availability. Situated approximately 40 metres from Apple Cabin, this lodge can accommodate up to six extra guests in three bedrooms (all with en-suite shower rooms). The lodge also has its own six-seater hot tub. Prices start from £1,050 for a 2-night weekend. Please contact us for more details.

Topleft Bottomright

What we think

We love this rustic barn conversion for so many reasons! There’s plenty of space to allow children to roam free-range (and adults too!) with a garden, fields and footpaths to explore plus fantastic indoor facilities too, including a swimming pool and cinema room for when the weather won’t play ball!
