Guest reviews

Old Mill Barns was the perfect venue to celebrate my joint 40th Birthday celebrations. From the initial enquiry right through to checking out the staff were amazing; so friendly and helpful. The communication was brilliant, the staff always responded to any messages on the same day. Nothing was ever too much trouble. All I can say is wow, wow, wow!!!! I knew from the photos that they were going to be amazing but they were seriously on another level. So well equipped, so tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. There is nothing that hadn’t been thought of. The addition of the games rooms and hot tub were an added bonus and were throughly enjoyed by all of our guests. Everyone had a fab time and we are hoping to re-book next year. Not for any special occasion just because Old Mill Barns are truly amazing. If you are thinking of booking them, you must!! You will not be disappointed. A massive thank you.

A gorgeous holiday home with excellent attention to detail in terms of cleanliness and decor, with some really unique and quirky furniture and art items giving a nod to the farm origins. We hired the Old Mill Barns for a large group of extended family and had a wonderful weekend. Lots of great communal spaces to gather, as well as cosy snugs and great outdoor spaces for children. Would definitely recommend and visit again. Thank you!

Out and about

Old Mill Barns lie in a village that sits right on top of Offa’s Dyke so you can see that it is steeped in the history of this fascinating area on the Welsh/English border. Although now firmly English, at one time much of the area was Welsh-speaking. Spend a day in the cathedral city of Hereford, a half-hour’s drive away. The cathedral itself is worth the journey. Dating from 1079 it houses the famous Mappa Mundi, a medieval map of the world dating from the 13th century. While you’re there, why not visit the Cider Museum, or take a stroll along the banks of the River Wye? Or spend the day shopping or sipping coffee in one of the many cafes in the bustling High Town centre.

Away from the city, Herefordshire’s Golden Valley winds its way between the Black Mountains and the banks of the River Dore. Visit Hay-on-Wye or the village of Dorstone, or on down to Peterchurch, Vowchurch and Abbey Dore to Ewyas Harold at the south of the Golden Valley. These historic villages, set in beautiful, untouched Herefordshire countryside, conjure up a time gone by in a way that can only be experienced by being there. Pictures, videos and books can never quite capture the magic and charm of the area. And the gently rolling landscape makes it an ideal place for walkers.

And for those of you who like something a bit more active, there is loads on offer: golf, fishing, canoeing, white water rafting, cycling, horse riding, pony trekking, walking, rock climbing and so much more.

In the rural village of Lyonshall with walks in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside available right from your doorstep. Local towns include Kington (3 miles . away) and Leominster (12 miles).
