Old world charm
in the heart of glorious Devon
If you are looking for time away where you can get the best of all worlds, look no further. This nineteenth century luxury accommodation has it all. Set in the middle of North Devon’s beautiful countryside, it lies on the outskirts of the village of Chulmleigh so you have pubs, restaurants, the golf club and the church all an easy stroll away. And in one direction you have the fantastic city of Exeter and in the other, North Devon’s celebrated coastline, each only a 45-minute car drive away.
With 8 stylish rooms in the main house and 4 further rooms in the annexe. There’s also further accommodation for 10 in nearby pubs and camping possible in the nearby meadows.
Traditional with a contemporary twist
The house, built in 1826 has retained the style and charm of the original design but with a today’s panache and comforts. (We love the superb range of lovingly selected arts and crafts.) With twelve beautiful bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, the house can sleep 24 and there is additional accommodation for up to twenty people at the nearby pubs. Or in the summer, why not try camping in the nearby meadows? The house has two receptions rooms, an elegant dining area seating 24, a fully equipped kitchen with a large table that seats an additional 10. The courtyard includes a private self-contained duplex (that sleeps four), a large bedroom with en-suite bathroom, dance barn, table tennis area, gym and gentleman’s snooker room. Oh, don’t forget the solar-heated swimming pool, infrared sauna, tennis court, croquet lawn, and children’s tree house!
12 stylish bedrooms
The first floor has four great bedrooms including: The Principal Room with a four poster bed and en-suite bathroom; The Parisian Room which can be made into two single beds or one king-size bed; The Garden Room (Queens-size brass bed); The Peacock Room (double bed). On the second floor the rooms have fall-to-sleep comfortable beds and either a power shower or a deep bath. Many of the rooms can be set up as either twin single beds or one super king bed so it is usually possible to find a combination to suit any party.
And there is more accommodation outside the house itself. The Studio is a private, self-contained apartment sleeping up to four people. The ground floor has a King-size bed (or it can be separated to make two singles). It has an en-suite bathroom, dining table and small kitchen area with a fridge. A spiral staircase leads up to a light and airy bedroom with another King-size bed and an en-suite bathroom. The balcony leads onto its own private deck, with a roll top bath overlooking gardens in a secluded part of the grounds, with stunning views over the countryside.
The Dance Barn, beside the yoga studio, has a secluded double bedroom with a shower room, a kitchenette with sink and fridge, and an outside seating area overlooking the apple orchard.
The Cobbled Room has a King-size bed with small steps leading down to the en-suite bath and shower. Check out the original cobbles! There is partial disabled access.
Eating is a pleasure
If you love cooking, the kitchen will allow you to do just that! But if you prefer a more relaxing break, why not dine in the nearby pubs. They’re just a short stroll away so you don’t have to worry about having a glass or two of Proscecco! Or, if you would rather eat in, we can arrange caterers to come and look after your every need. We can even provide a butler and waiting staff. Ultimately, the choice is yours and we are happy to work with you to give you exactly the experience you want.
