Welcome to Wales, where just a hop across the border from England feels like you've entered a new world entirely. This compact country boasts inspiring hills, formidable castles and moody coastlines of crumbling rock and golden sand.
We’ve tried to think about everything to make your stay at My Own Castle just perfect. In all of our big houses to rent, we provide all the essential features to cater for a large group. Here’s a list of all the practical provisions at the castle. If there’s anything you can’t see here but need, just ask as we’ll see what we can do.
Outside there are 32 acres of manicured parkland to enjoy with plenty of opportunity to ramble around the estate (look out for the roe deer). The Walled Garden has an all-weather tennis court and carefully manicured lawns perfect for croquet and boules. Let the castle team know in advance and they can organise all sorts of activities to keep you all busy: personal training, falconry, quad biking, cycling, horse riding, barbecues and picnics and even Highland games.
This being Scotland, there are plenty of golf courses close by. In fact, there are more than 80 golf courses within a 20 mile radius of Edinburgh! And, of course, there are the wonders of Edinburgh to explore (one of our favourite cities in the world). Edinburgh abounds with things to do all year round. Explore cobbled streets and ancient alleys. Potter round the stylish boutiques and gift shops; head to the bustling streets of George and Princes Streets, or the Grassmarket and, of course, the famous Royal Mile. You can easily explore the architecture, history, shops, theatres and museums on foot and there are wonderful restaurants, pubs and cafes if you want a wee rest.
Whatever you choose to do, it’s always nice to relax at the end of it all, so the team can organise a yoga session or a tailored massage specially for you back at the castle. And they can arrange for professional make-up artists, manicurists and hairdressers to prepare you for that special occasion, whatever it may be.
And the castle team know how to party too! If you want your evening to end with a bang rather than a whimper, they can lay it on to the max! Just ask!
For events and receptions, the castle can accommodate up to 200 guests across the ground floor spaces and 150 guests in the Orangery.
For larger numbers, the Orangery can be adjoined by a marquee for up to 450 guests.
For additional guests wishing to stay on the estate, the Gate Lodge and Stables (furnished to an equally high standard) can be requested for an additional charge (accommodating up to 40 guests including those staying in the castle). These are located within easy strolling distance of the castle. Breakfast is served in the castle for guests staying on the estate.
