Lionscombe House Hero

Lionscombe House Heart of England

Georgian good looks with a contemporary surprise

The Georgians knew how to choose the perfect location; Lionscombe House feels as natural in its hillside setting as the organic working sheep farm estate around it. And with the addition of an ultra-modern, RIBA award-winning, glass garden room, the natural world feels closer than ever.

Reaching out into the stunning arboretum garden, the garden room is where you will probably spend most of your time. This light-filled space rises to every occasion, helped by its fabulous cocktail bar. It’s ideal for summer parties, blurring the boundaries between inside and out, and just as fitting for winter gatherings, with its cosy fireplace and comfy seating.

And behind you, there’s still a big beautiful Georgian house, where original features are celebrated and minimalist elegance is punctuated by contemporary artworks and quirky flourishes. Pot some balls on the billiards table before sinking into sofas in one of the two sitting rooms (one has an open fire). Meanwhile, the modern breakfast kitchen covers your every catering eventuality and upstairs seven bedrooms, sleeping 14 guests, echo the reception rooms in their understated charm. One room is ensuite, and there are two family bathrooms.

In the garden, splash about in the heated pool and relax in the steam room. Play table tennis on the terrace or explore the 36-acre estate, wandering through woodland and meadows before sitting by the lake with a book. You might even meet the resident wallabies in the arboretum garden.

Just two hours from London and well-placed for the Cheltenham Races, Bath Spa and the Cotswolds, Lionscombe House is hard to beat for a country break or as a venue for a special celebration or corporate event.

Topleft Bottomright

What we think

We love the blend of period elegance and modern originality in this beautiful Georgian house. The contemporary glass garden room is the house’s trump card (the perfect venue for gatherings), and where else can you watch wallabies roam while you take a dip in the outdoor pool?!
