Tempest Hall Yorkshire

Tempest Hall North of England

A Grade 1 historic house.
A MAGNIFICENT RETREAT WHERE LUXURY IS THE BYWORD

This house is as English as the land it stands on – and the Estate has been there since 1097. Tempest Hall has belonged to the Tempest Baronet family for 900 years. The grandeur of the State Rooms will take your breath away and the bedrooms are both luxurious and designed to give every guest striking views of the beautifully landscaped Yorkshire parkland and the 17th century formal gardens. The 3000 acres of gardens, woodland and open countryside are perfect for walking, cycling, fishing, tennis and picnics.

The elegant interiors are sumptuously furnished, yet Tempest Hall never feels like a museum or even a country club – it remains a cherished and authentic home, just as it was originally conceived. The ambience is relaxed yet luxurious, with outstanding food, skilled staff and an extensive wine cellar at your disposal.

You can hire Tempest Hall alone, or together with the cottages on the Estate to accommodate up to 75. There's also a wonderful state-of-the-art wellness and conference centre making this is the ideal venue for business conferences, parties and big family gatherings.

  • Are there local pubs or restaurants you can recommend?

Yes. We'd recommend the following pubs or restaurants which are within a short drive of Tempest Hall:

The Bull (a short walk from Dales Hall)

Set within the Estate you'll find this traditional pub with open fires; flagged stone floors; good old furniture and lots of rugs and plants. Internally, the bar sits at the heart of things with an array of cask ales, shelves full of gins, whiskies and rum to welcome you as you walk through the doors and a wine list of around 50 or so wines.

The Tempest Arms (4 minute drive)

Dating back to the 17th century, this lovely pub has long been known for its warm welcome, with quiet corners and alcoves, plump cushions, roaring log fires, fantastic food and hand pulled ales.

    Le Caveau (9 minute drive)

Once a prison for Craven District's felons and sheep rustlers, there is now little evidence of its former incarnation, and the locals these days are only too pleased to dine at Le Caveau while soaking up the atmosphere of this 16th century building, complete with barrel vaulted ceilings, original beams and exposed stonework.

Oakley's Grill and Pizzeria (9 minute drive)

Smart, family-run Italian restaurant and grill, set on 3 floors of a converted rag mill.
