Bacchus House The South East

Rural bliss with a pool and hot tubs

Bacchus House is a 17th century Kent country house, set in lush gardens on a 15-acre farm estate. This idyllic setting is like a scene from the Darling Buds of May, and yet is just a short drive from the cathedral city of Canterbury.

In the summer months, it’s all about the outdoor life at Bacchus House, with the garden, meadow, vineyards, orchard and woodland to explore. In the garden, discover the swimming pool, two hot tubs, and tennis court too. And for the children, there’s an adventure play area with a treehouse. Base your al fresco days around the pool house, where you’ll find a bar, a pool table and plenty of seating.

If you want more hygge, step inside. Original stripped beams, huge inglenook fireplaces and warm colours give cosy cottage vibes. You can party in the kitchen conservatory, socialise in the sitting room or get comfy in the cinema room for the full Sky package, BT Sport, Netflix and more, on the 85-inch screen. Add in the grand piano, Sonos sound system and a gym, and you can pretty much please everyone.

After dreamy days in the Kent countryside, enjoy dreamy nights in ensuite rooms, where the stylish floral wallpapers, exposed beams and garden views are all part of the charm. There’s room for 15 guests (or up to 23 using extra beds and sofa beds), with a choice of the main house and two self-contained apartments, allowing peace and privacy for those who seek it. For family holidays, celebration parties or group get-togethers, Bacchus House ticks all the boxes and offers an escape from the city, in the Garden of England.
