With the Highlands at your fingertips
It’s easy to band around terms like ‘unique, “different”, and “special” but often those are superlatives without meaning. But when we say that this contemporary Scottish castle is unique, different and special, believe me, we are true to every word. Firstly, there’s the location. It lies right in the beautiful Scottish Highlands and yet it is less than an hour’s drive away from both Glasgow and Edinburgh. It’s remote and peaceful and yet the nearest town, with its many facilities, is only a fifteen-minute walk away. Then there’s the décor! When we tell you that this lovingly restored contemporary castle is the private residence of Scottish artist Stuart McAlpine Miller and his wife, Nikki and that it is furnished throughout in the unique and contemporary style of your hosts, you’ll begin to understand what we mean. An ever-changing exhibition of Stuart’s contemporary artwork features throughout the property and luxury silks designed by Nikki are on display in the basement art gallery, together with a series of rare Limited Edition prints. So you can see that this truly is a unique place to stay.
Where artistic brilliance meets classy style
Inside, this property is stylish and spectacular. The beautiful reception room is 80 metres long with several seating and dining areas. And on cold Highland winter evenings it is the perfect place to enjoy a roaring fire while sipping a wee dram from the 3 metre-long honesty bar, or indulging in a friendly game of pool. There’s even a drum kit and lighting if you want to party! For a more sedate musical evening, head to the morning room where you will find a digital baby grand piano. Or relax on one of the comfy sofas in front of a cosy fire in the library listening to your favourite tunes on the Sonos music system that serves the whole ground floor of the property. The Magical dining area features the “The Savoy Series” of artworks creating plenty of conversation pieces as you enjoy a wonderful meal with family and friends and soak up the ambience.
Warmth and a bed are all you need
In total, the castle can sleep up to 26 guests. On the first floor there is a wonderful four-poster room with an en suite that features a roll top bath. The Emperor suite’s luxury bathroom has a Jacuzzi, with it’s own underwater music and lights system. Then there is the large four-poster suite, with connecting twin beds, and a shared bathroom with a roll top bath. The twin room has double beds, and an en suite connecting to the family king size room
On up to the third floor which has its own self-contained kitchen (and a cinema room in the turret.) There are two double rooms and a wonderful four-poster suite with a shared luxury bathroom
The fantastically beautiful and light contemporary basement contains sleeps a further eight: there is a double four-poster room, a twin with double beds and a family room with adjoining twin single beds, with a shared luxury double shower suite.
The layout of the rooms makes it a great option for several family groups staying together.
For a special occasion…
The dining area seats up to eighteen around the table with a further eight at the dining bench by the window. Each chair is upholstered with art works from McAlpine Miller’s residency at The Savoy Hotel in London. We can arrange luxury catering from an award-winning caterer, or alternatively we can arrange a private chef. There is a wide range of dining options to suit your needs and your taste. And whatever you are planning we will work closely with you to produce a menu that reflects your food preferences. And if you’re looking for something new, that’s great because the kitchen team are always keen to develop new combinations of flavours and different methods of cooking and new concepts. Of course, if you’d rather cater for yourselves, that’s fine too! Our fully equipped kitchen has a boiling hot water tap, two dishwashers, an American fridge/freezer and both a double electric oven and Aga. Bring out your inner Gordon Ramsey! And, of course, if you want to head out for a light lunch, there are plenty of pubs and restaurants all within easy striking distance.

So much to do!
The castle sits in twelve acres of private grounds, including the woodland and the river, and it is all just waiting for you to explore. Fish for salmon or trout or try your hand at clay pigeon shooting. This being Scotland, there is a golf course close at hand and we can even arrange golf days for you. And this being the Highlands, there are plenty of places to walk – whether you prefer a leisurely stroll or you want a healthy hike, there is something for everyone. In the Morning room you will find a digital baby grand piano and the games cupboard includes croquet and boules. If you want something a bit more energetic, the basement gym has a running machine, spin bikes, free weights, and an aerial yoga swing. Whatever takes your fancy, just ask. We’ll do our very best to accommodate you! We can arrange yoga instructors, personal instructors, canoeing, cycling, and a whole range of spa treatments. Go on, pamper yourself!
