Modern facilities in a traditional setting

Being a tower, this accommodation is set over five storeys. Downstairs boasts an impressive vaulted dining room. The walnut dining table which can accommodate 22 guests makes this atmospheric room perfect for special celebrations, wedding parties or just an intimate dinner with friends. For something less formal, the room can accommodate up to 32 guests. Next door, there is a fully fitted kitchen.

Up one floor to the most relaxing living room you’ll ever enjoy. Soft, comfortable seating, beautiful furnishings are set off by the stately fireplace making this room cosy in Winter or on cool Scottish evenings. Next door is the library with a flat screen TV and your own private bar. Between the first and second floors is the Study, which can also be used as a single bedroom, and has beautiful views down to the Laich.

Bedrooms with Style…

…as well as comfort

On the second floor, the Ruthven Suite has windows to both the North and West, while its bathroom (you will love the Paisley canopy bath) also has great views to the South. The unusual Provincial half-tester king size bed is a favourite of ours! There is also a Dressing Room providing extra space and storage. The adjacent Carmichael Suite looks out to the North, East and South. The Italian silver-gilt double bed frame is incredibly comfortable. The large bathroom has a double French basin, a freestanding cast iron bath and a generous walk-in shower.

On up to the third floor and The Erskine Suite offers you a large double bed (which can convert to two single beds), and views are to the North and West. If you’re looking for the telly, it’s hidden in an 18th Century linen press. There’s dressing room, an quirky leather-topped desk, and plenty of room to relax. The bathroom has an French antique copper bath, big enough to swim in! There’s also a shower, beautiful traditional style basin and, to top it all off, luxurious dressing gowns. The Stewart Suite looks out North, East and South and boasts a large double bed (which can convert to two single beds). Painted 19th Century pot cupboards serve as bedside tables, while an immense Swedish armoire creates wardrobe space. The bathroom boasts original French double basins from a Montmartre house. We love this room.

Up to the top and the smaller, but beautifully finished, Garret Suite can be used as a double or twin room. It has its own private cosy sitting area with TV, you also have outside access to the battlements with great views across the hills to Edinburgh.

Simple luxury in true Scottish style

Enjoy dining in style

The choices are yours

Every morning we serve a scrumptious breakfast banquet in the dining room with fresh pastries, fruit, cereals and locally made yoghurt and spreads. And, of course, we offer a full, cooked Scottish breakfast too! If grand cooking is your thing, the kitchen is at your disposal but, if you want an altogether more relaxing time, we can provide a chef for both lunchtime and evening meals. If you want to eat out, then Edinburgh is about 18 miles away with the best restaurants in Scotland while closer to hand there is some fine dining in North Berwick.

Plenty to see and do

Activities for all ages and all tastes

There are over 100 golf courses within 30 miles. We suggest you book well in advance, but it really is a golfers paradise and you should make sure you pack your clubs! Or how about game shooting, when in season, including pheasant and grouse; river and loch on the River Tweed; horse riding from nearby stables; or bird watching at the Bass Rock Seabird Centre?

It’s a great place for walking or cycling with waymarked nature trails and ancient monuments to visit. Or you can take boat trips and fishing trips from North Berwick. Whatever you want to do, we’re happy to help.
