There is so much to tempt you here that you will never be short of something to do whether that is just to stay in and watch a film, enjoy a cosy chat over a small whiskey, play a round of golf on one of our magnificent golf courses, enjoy some trout fishing in the River Liffey, or get out and about to explore the countryside. A half-hour drive will take you to the Irish National Stud with its Japanese Gardens that are the finest of their kind in Europe. While you’re there, why not pop into nearby Kildare Town and explore the 13th century St Brigid’s Cathedral. Or go fifteen minutes in the other direction and visit the magnificent Georgian estate at Castletown, a reflection of 18th century Anglo-Irish wealth. Whatever way you travel, you will come across plenty of historic sites to explore, interesting places to stop for a visit and to chat to the locals.   • Newgrange: Newgrange is a prehistoric monument in County Meath, Ireland, located 8 kilometres west of Drogheda on the north side of the River Boyne.
  • Rock of Cashel: A spectacular group of Medieval buildings set on an outcrop of limestone in the Golden Vale including the 12th century round tower, High Cross and Romanesque Chapel, 13th century Gothic cathedral, 15th century Castle and the restored Hall of the Vicars Choral.
  • Kilkenny Castle: Go back in time to a 12th Century castle, remodelled and restored and set in 1830’s splendour and extensive parklands: includes art gallery and playground.
  • Irish National Stud: The Irish National Stud is a Thoroughbred horse breeding facility in Tully, County Kildare and is approximately a 30 minute drive from Kildare Manor. Guided tours of the Stud and The Japanese Gardens are available at the Visitor Centre.
  • The Curragh: The word “Curragh” means place of the running horse. The Irish turf club was founded in the coffee rooms in Kildare and it was soon established as the governing body for horse racing throughout Ireland.
