The Cedar Barn Somerset

The Cedar Barn The South West

Sauna, spa and Somerset sunsets

Hidden deep in the luscious Somerset countryside, at the edge of the Somerset Levels, The Cedar Barn is a magnificent and modern barn conversion with open-plan living and a host of rather special extras. One-level living means sleek interiors that seamlessly give way to wide open views through four sets of bifold doors.

And there’s more, so much more: The spa, with sauna, aromatherapy steam room and heated loungers. The heated outdoor swimming pools (one private pool and one larger shared pool in the delightful walled garden). The hot tub under the wide skies of Somerset.

The Cedar Barn is an escape to a contemporary oasis in a timeless landscape, where life can slow down for a few glorious days. Perfect for gathering with your nearest and dearest.

Guest Reviews

Beautiful and modern style house in the middle of the countryside. Nice size bedrooms, clean and tidy décor and huge space to relax which easily catered for our group of 14. The Sonos system allowed for music to be played throughout the entire house and gardens which was perfect for the many BBQs we had.

Rustic-industrial interiors

The modern décor is matched with modern facilities. Immerse yourself in music from the Sonos surround sound system as you explore the spacious open rooms. Here, the entertainment area with pool and table football. There, the comfy sofas in front of the cosy fire.

Throw those bifold doors wide open for the inside-outside vibe and the Somerset views. Out on the patio, the generous table is the setting for lively al fresco meals and, when the stars come out, the bubbling hot tub is the only place from which to gaze at them.

Luxurious en-suite bedrooms

That same minimalist design concept that runs through this luxury retreat, brings to the bedrooms an uncluttered and soothing air. As evening falls and bedtime beckons, slip away to your en-suite bedroom and sink into the soft pillows and luxury linens. Sleep will surely take you, as the night silence descends across the rural landscape.

The Cedar Barn sleeps up to 16 people in 6 bedrooms in whatever combination of super-kings and singles that works for you and your party.

So much relaxing to do

Time slows down in this rural idyll and you can’t help but relax. That might include an hour or two away from the world in the luxurious spa room, it might be a lazy dip in the hot tub. And from outdoor pool time to indoor pool tournaments, you might find your well-laid plans to explore the Somerset countryside take a back seat.

If the call to explore wins out, Glastonbury is a must. Climb the Tor for breath-taking panoramic views of the county. Take a drive to Longleat for a family day out or check out the cheese at Cheddar Gorge. For a day at the seaside, head north for quaint harbour towns of the Somerset coast or drop south for the Jurassic coast in Dorset.

House FAQs

  • What are the check-in and check-out times?

The check-in time is 4pm on the day of your arrival, and check-out is at 10am on the day of your departure.

  • Are there private chefs that can cater for us during our stay?

Yes, while there is a well-equipped kitchen for self-catering at The Cedar Barn, we can put you in touch with some very good local private chefs that can cater for you and your guests for a special celebratory meal, or for every meal during your stay.

  • Are there local places to eat you can recommend?

Yes. We'd suggest the following pubs which are within a short distance of The Cedar Barn:

The Devonshire Arms (2 minute drive, or 21 minute walk)

A Grade II former hunting lodge set on the picturesque village green of Long Sutton, close to The Cedar Barn.

The Halfway House (3 minute, or 27 minute walk)

The pub offers a great selection of beers, ales and ciders drawn straight from the barrel and a menu of real homemade hearty food. With a devoted following from both the village and further afield, the friendly atmosphere is filled with chatter and laughter.

  • Can I book an online supermarket delivery?

Yes, you can arrange for a local supermarket to deliver to the property any time during your stay. We ask that the time booked is after your check-in time, as it’s possible the house-keeper won’t be at the property before that time.

  • Do you accept pets?

No, sorry pets are not allowed at The Cedar Barn.

  • Who is the main swimming pool shared with?

There is a small private heated outdoor swimming pool (available Easter - end October). The larger heated outdoor pool (available beginning May - end September) is shared with two other smaller holiday cottages and is heated to 28 degrees. Each cottage has its own area around the pool, but we tend to find that guests use it at different times and it works well.

  • What is the nearest train station?

The nearest train station is Castle Cary (25 minute drive away).

  • What is the nearest airport?

The nearest airport is Bristol Airport (1 hour drive away).

  • Can I invite additional day-guests?

Sorry, the maximum number of guests allowed at The Cedar Barn is 16.

  • Is the property suitable for a stag or hen party?

Hen parties are welcome, and well behaved stag parties may be considered (please ask before booking).

  • Do you hold a cautionary deposit?

Yes, we ask for a refundable cautionary deposit of £500 during your stay. This is requested just two weeks prior to your stay, and is returned shortly after, assuming no damage to the property or its contents (see our Booking T&Cs for more information).

  • How do I book?

You can book online or by calling our friendly team on 01242 352 747. When booking, we ask for a deposit of 33% of the total price, with the balance payable 3 months prior to your stay.
