Rockmoor House The South West

A vibrant Victorian manor in delightful Devon

Rockmoor House will confound your expectations of a Victorian country manor. With an early Arts and Crafts vibe, its handsome exterior hides colourful and playfully styled interiors with home comforts and grown-up luxuries. The flexible living space means you can bring up to 16 guests for your country break in Devon.

The sitting room, with its velvet seats and open fireplace, is a peaceful space to catch up together while the drawing room, complete with baby grand piano, is a modern take on Victorian elegance, perfect for your pre-dinner drinks. Dinner itself is served in the adjoining open-plan dining room, which in turn leads to a lovely south facing sunroom. Don’t miss the library, where you can discover a secret door, revealing a large and fabulous games room with table games, a cinema area, a bar and wine room.

Outside, watch the garden wildlife from a rocking chair or hanging swing chair on the wrap-around American-style veranda, or slide into the sunken hot tub (available in the summer months) on the decking overlooking the one-acre gardens. Al fresco meals are catered for with a dining area, barbecue and fire pit to extend your evenings. And, while you’re enjoying the fresh air, take a challenge on the giant chess or Jenga.

When the embers are low and it’s time for bed, you’ll appreciate the comfort and luxury of the bedrooms. If you’re in the dual aspect master bedroom, you’re rewarded with far-reaching views across Dartmoor, as well as a dressing room and ensuite bathroom. Meanwhile, other guests enjoy four poster beds, walk-in showers and garden views through the large sash windows. On the second floor, there’s a whole living space, with kitchen, lounge, bathroom and three bedrooms.
