Pentire Penthouse The South West

Spectacular circular penthouse overlooking Fistral Beach

This is a holiday home to blow you away! The star of the show is the sun filled circular sitting room with sleek, open-plan kitchen and comfortable dining area. A stylish mid-century vibe carries throughout, and the whole penthouse could easily double as a classic James Bond film set. Wall to floor windows command views of Fistral Beach in Cornwall, the coastline beyond and far out to sea. A wraparound balcony means that you can step outside and feel the sea air as it whips up the surf on the beach below. The outside space opens out to a huge sun terrace with uninterrupted views of the coast and a fabulous 8-person hot tub. Here, you can watch the sun set over the bay as you sip Champagne. Downstairs, four deluxe bedrooms designed with cool, calming fabric and features, have super king zip and link beds with feather duvets, and luxury en suite facilities with bathrobes, delicious smelling Rosemary, Sage & Burdock signature Tregulland & Co complimentary shampoo, conditioner and hand soap supply in every bathroom and even swimming towels for your surfing (or sunbathing) expeditions.

House FAQs

  • What are the best beaches near Pentire Penthouse?

There are several wonderful beaches to explore:

    Fistral Beach (2 mins walk)

Miles of pristine white sand to play on and an excellent opportunity to surf. Walk down the steps off Esplanade Road (why not stop off at the Sea Spray Café on your way down for an ice cream?). Walk along the beach to the Newquay end to find a selection of surf shops, cafés and restaurants as well as the grand and quirky Headland Hotel.

Crantock Beach (10 mins walk when the tide is out, 20 mins drive)

Crantock is another stunning wide sandy beach, this time owned by the National Trust just on the other side of Pentire headland.

Poly Joke Beach (1 hour walk, 12 mins drive)

Poly Joke is the next tiny beach along from Crantock and is a pleasant walk along the South West Coast Path to reach it.

    Watergate Bay (15 mins drive)

Watergate Bay is north of Newquay itself, another astonishing expanse of white sandy beach with the family friendly Watergate Bay Hotel.

    Further afield:

Almost every beach for miles around is jaw-droppingly beautiful; huge expanses of pure white sand, getting more stunning the further south you travel. If you get the weather you can’t really go wrong, a few of our favourites are:

    • Porthcothan (27 mins drive) – good for families
    • St Ives (46 mins) – gorgeous fishing town with National Gallery outpost
    • Sennen Cove (1 hr away) – stunning sweep of white sandy perfection

  • Are pets allowed?

As Pentire Penthouse is on the top floor with only a paved terrace for the hot tub, dogs are generally not allowed, except in exceptional circumstances. Please check prior to booking.

  • Are extra beds available to sleep more than 8 guests?

We have an ingenious bed-in-a-box available in the Crantock bedroom, and a sofa bed in the Fistral bedroom which can be made up on request with signature Egyptian cotton bedding and towels for a small additional fee (£110 per bed for short breaks and £175 for 7 night stays). Please call us to book if your guest numbers are above 8 guests.

  • What are the check in and check out times?

Check in is at 4pm on the day of your arrival at Pentire Penthouse, and check out is at 10am.

  • Will you hold a damage deposit during our stay?

Yes, we ask to hold a cautionary deposit of £1,000 during your stay at Pentire Penthouse. This is requested just two weeks prior to your stay, and is returned shortly after, assuming no damage to the property or its contents (see our Booking T&Cs for more information).

  • Is the house suitable for children?

There is a highchair and cot available at Pentire Penthouse. However, there is a wide open staircase opening into the middle of the top floor sitting room which can't be sealed off, so the property may not be suitable for families with very young children.

  • Can I arrange a supermarket delivery to the house?

Yes. We usually suggest booking a delivery for after 4pm on the day of arrival.

  • Are there local places to eat you can recommend?

Yes. We'd suggest the following pubs and restaurants which are within a short distance of Pentire Penthouse:

Towards Newquay (all within walking distance of Pentire Penthouse):

Sea Spray Café – Fistral Beach (2 mins walk)

The closest café to Pentire Penthouse - half way down the steps onto Fistral Beach from Esplanade Road.

Headland Hotel – Fistral Beach (10 mins walk)

Iconic Grade II listed building where Roald Dahl’s The Witches was filmed. Indoor pool and spa treatments also available.

Rick Stein’s Takeaway (10 mins walk)

Open 10am-9pm every day. Brilliant, busy takeaway with seating for eat-in Fish & Chips or Asian classics, simply but consistently well done.

The Stable – Newquay (10 mins walk)

Open noon-11pm most days. Bustling pizza and pie restaurant overlooking Fistral Beach.

Towards Pentire Headland (within walking distance of Pentire Penthouse):

Fernpit Café – Riverside Crescent (10 mins walk)

Opening times: May-September, 10am-6pm. Great little seasonally open café serving simple snacks, drinks, ice creams and glorious fresh lobster!

Lewinnick Lodge  – Riverside Crescent (15 mins walk)

Open for food 12noon-10pm all year round – booking highly recommended. Great pub restaurant with an amazing outdoor terrace right out on the headland with panoramic views of the Irish Sea.

A little further afield, but well worth the drive:

Watergate Bay Hotel – Watergate Bay (15 mins drive)

Open all day, family friendly hotel with outdoor hot tub, indoor pool, excellent food and spa treatments with glorious sea views.

Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant – Padstow (32 mins drive)

Open 12pm-2.30pm and 6.30pm-10pm every day except Christmas Day. Some might say a trip to Cornwall is incomplete without a visit.

  • How many guests can sit at the dining table?

There is a dining table at Pentire Penthouse that can seat 10 guests comfortably.

  • What is the nearest train station to Pentire Penthouse?

Newquay has a train station with trains direct to London. Newquay is a 2 minute drive, or 15 minute walk to Pentire Penthouse.
